WhatsApp Video Call Finally Released On Android

After gaining support for making voice calls last year, we’ve been hearing rumors about video calling support to come soon. Now, the latest beta version of the WhatsApp for Android app (v20.16.80) shows video calling feature. However, it is not active as yet.

The app interface remains the same as earlier versions and as you can see, tapping on the call icon in the chat menu gives you two options – to make a voice call or a video call. Although the feature is integrated in the latest beta version, we weren’t able to place a video call, as yet. It is also a little surprising that WhatsApp went to the same voice call icon, rather than having a separate one for placing video calls. If you want to try it out, you can download and install the APK file from here.

Recently, we also learned that the upcoming WhatsApp update could bring features such as callback, voice mail, video calling and also the ability to share ZIP files. Now while the video calling feature has showed up, the company is reportedly testing the voicemail feature internally.
