Rumor has it that Google is teaming up with Ford to produce a self driving cars, google ambitious project is set to receive backing from automotive giant Ford, which will be developing and building self-driving cars for Google. According to Yahoo Autos, the two sides have already struck a deal, and are likely to make the formal announcement at the CES 2016.

Both the companies are doing their best to keep the deal under the wraps and haven’t confirmed the rumor either. This collaboration with Ford will give Google a huge advantage over the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Tesla, which are also believed to be working on self-driving cars.

This is however not an exclusive partnership, and the report reveals that Google is also in talks with other automakers trying to convince them to use its self-driving car system. Earlier this year, Google started testing its bubble-shaped driverless car prototype on the roads around Mountain View.

Going forward, a Bloomberg report recently reiterated how serious Google is about its self-driving car plans. The company is said to be planning to spin-off the division into a standalone Uber-like driverless ride business under Alphabet.
